Hart man stabbed in love triangle dispute

By Allison Scarbrough, News Editor

WEBBER TOWNSHIP, Lake County — A 31-year-old Hart man is listed in “stable but serious condition” after being stabbed Sunday, Feb. 18, near Baldwin, according to Michigan State Police Sgt. Dan Thomas of the Hart post.

The stabbing, which was the result of an apparent love triangle, occurred in the 200 block of Tin Cup Circle around 5 p.m., said Sgt. Thomas.

“It stemmed from a dispute between the girlfriend’s current and estranged boyfriend.”

A 19-year-old Georgia man, who was the apparent former boyfriend, allegedly stabbed the Hart man, who apparently is the current boyfriend. The Hart man was transported by Life EMS to Corewell Health Ludington Hospital where he was airlifted to Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, said Thomas.

The 19-year-old Georgia man was arrested and lodged in the Lake County Jail on a charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm. The 18-year-old woman involved was unharmed, he said.

No other details were immediately available.
