Hart High School flutists advance to state competition

Pirate News is a presentation of Hart Public Schools in partnership with Oceana County Press.

HART — Hart High School band members Lluvia Burillo-Castro and Lynessa Fielder performed for judges at District 1 Solo and Ensemble Feb. 10, earning a trip to the state competition.

The seniors each performed a solo and a duet together. “Both students did an outstanding job as they each gave excellent performances,” said Hart Band Director John Breitenbach. “They both qualified for state solo and ensemble. I’m really proud of how they represented our Hart band.”

Hart’s eighth grade band is preparing for the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association District 1 Band Festival Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 10:50 a.m. at Shelby High School, where the musicians will perform before a panel of three judges. The high school band’s festival performance is set for March 7, at 1:25 p.m. at Manistee High School.

“All band families and community members are welcome to attend and support our Hart bands,” said Breitenbach.
