Hart captures 5th straight regional title on Valentine’s Day

SANFORD — The Hart Wrestling Team competed with a lot of heart on Valentine’s Day, winning the Div. 3 regional title at Sanford Meridian.

The Pirates soundly defeated Chippewa Hills in the semifinals 42-22 and Gladwin in the finals 48-21 to gain their fifth straight regional championship.

They advance to the state finals next weekend in Kalamazoo. 

Hart wrestlers who won matches in the semifinals were: Aiden Schaner, Kole Thomas, Logan Jorissen, Ty Thomas, Chico Salgado, Adrian Tice, Ivan Lara and Adrian Lara. Pirates who dominated the mats in the finals include: Jose Chavira, Kole Thomas, Logan Jorissen, Ty Thomas, Joseluis Andaverde, Haegan Hansen, Chico Salgado, Alex Hicks, and Adrian Lara.
