79th District Court sentencings, posted Feb. 15, 2024
HART — The following were sentenced recently in Oceana County’s 79th District Court:
- Andrew James Lane, 32, of 5286 Skeels Rd., Holton, pleaded guilty Feb. 6, 2024 to trespassing and was sentenced to 14 days in jail with credit for seven days served. One count of breaking and entering — illegal entry was dismissed.
- Rita Maria Huerta, 29, of 3300 E. Buchanan Rd., Shelby, pleaded “no contest” Feb. 6, 2024 to assault and battery and was sentenced to two days suspended jail with credit for two days served; six months probation; and $600 in fines and costs. One felony count of assault with a dangerous weapon was dismissed.
- Carey Randall Kempker, 64, of 1905 Castle Ave., Norton Shores, pleaded guilty Dec. 20, 2023 to operating while intoxicated and was sentenced Jan. 30, 2024 to two days suspended jail with credit for two days served; Alcohol Highway Safety Education (AHSE); and $750 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to the Secretary of State (SOS).
- Logan Ivan Waruszewski, 25, of 2571 Holton Whitehall Rd., Whitehall, pleaded guilty Jan. 30, 2024 to operating while impaired and was sentenced to AHSE and $1,000 in fines and costs. One count of operating while intoxicated was dismissed. Conviction reportable to SOS.
- Daniel Leon King, 41, of 1711 Jarman St., Muskegon, pleaded guilty Jan. 30, 2024 to attempted larceny less than $200 and was sentenced to $250 in fines and costs.
- Richard Lee James, 53, of 8620 96th Ave., Pentwater, pleaded guilty Feb. 12, 2024 to driving while license suspended (DWLS) and was sentenced to $475 in fines and costs. One count of second-offense DWLS was dismissed. Conviction reportable to SOS.
- Samuel Arthur Gillette, 63, of 51 S. Winter St., Hesperia, pleaded guilty Feb. 6, 2024 to DWLS and was sentenced to a $75 fine. Conviction reportable to SOS. One count of second-offense DWLS was dismissed.
- Manuel Lawrence Corey IV, 30, of 80 S. Michigan Ave., Shelby, pleaded guilty Feb. 6, 2024 to DWLS and was sentenced to $450 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.
- Darnell DeWayne Brown, 37, of 297 Washington Ave., Muskegon, pleaded guilty Feb. 2, 2024 to DWLS and was sentenced to $475 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.
- Cheyenne Makayla Allain, 26, of 412 Thornwild Dr., Scottville, pleaded guilty Feb. 6, 2024 to third-degree retail fraud and was sentenced to $252.64 in fines, costs and restitution.
- Adrian Aniceto Ramirez, of 407 E. Johnson St., Hart, pleaded guilty Feb. 6, 2024 to DWLS and was sentenced to $450 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.
- Jaden Elizabeth Jahnke, of 3585 Fruitvale Rd., Montague, pleaded guilty Feb. 6, 2024 to disturbing the peace and was sentenced to a $75 fine. One count of disorderly person — drunk was dismissed.
- Nicole Marie Smith, 40, of 8500 William St., Montague, pleaded guilty Feb. 6, 2024 to allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to $300 in fines and costs. One count of DWLS was dismissed.
- Allen Micheal McClellan, 33, pleaded guilty Feb. 6, 2024 to allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to $350 in fines and costs. One count of DWLS was dismissed.
- Ryan Keith Daniels, 46, of 5420 W. Polk Rd., Alma, pleaded guilty Feb. 5, 2024 to allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to $300 in fines and costs. One count of DWLS was dismissed.
- Wyatt James Back, 20, of 7433 S. Morse, Branch, pleaded guilty Feb. 5, 2024 to allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to $300 in fines and costs. One count of DWLS was dismissed.
- Laurence Andrew Hill, 60, of 2940 W. Skeels Rd., Montague, pleaded guilty Feb. 5, 2024 to DWLS and was sentenced to $400 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.
- Cody Andrew Swindle, 31, of 65766 Robins Lake Rd., Jones, Michigan, pleaded guilty Jan. 31, 2024 to DWLS and was sentenced to $475 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.
- Bobbie Joe Ball, 28, of 710 E. Main St., Hart, pleaded guilty Jan. 31, 2024 to open intoxicants and was sentenced to $375 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.
- Scott Andrew Ursiny, Jr., 31, of 5155 W. Tyler Rd., Hart, pleaded guilty Jan. 31, 2024 to open intoxicants and was sentenced to $375 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.
- Gerardo Vazquez-Cortes, 29, of 321 Lesada Ave., Shelby, pleaded guilty Jan. 30, 2024 to failure to report an accident and was sentenced to $450 in fines and costs. One count of failure to stop for a property damage accident was dismissed.
- Michael Lee Steffes, 55, of 5451 E. Deer Rd., Walkerville, pleaded guilty Jan. 30, 2024 to second-offense DWLS and was sentenced to 273 days in jail with credit for 180 days served; will serve 93 days in Saginaw Correctional Facility; fines and costs waived. Conviction reportable to SOS.
- David Joseph Venne, 53, of 4428 N. 108th Ave., Hart, pleaded guilty Jan. 30, 2024 to allowing a person to drive in violation and was sentenced to $300 in fines and costs. One count of DWLS was dismissed.
- Adam Blake Riddell, 33, of 3417 N. 72nd Ave., Hart, pleaded guilty Jan. 30, 2024 to larceny less than $200 and was sentenced to six months probation and $600 in fines, costs and restitution. One felony count of uttering and publishing counterfeit bills was dismissed.
Dismissals
- Curtis Lester-Lee Tice, 36, of 3850 W. Melody Lane, Hart; one count of malicious destruction to a building less than $200 was dismissed Feb. 2, 2024.
- Brian Paul Woodworth, 61, of 8479 E. Monroe Rd., Walkerville, one count of failure to prevent the spread of fire was dismissed Feb. 13, 2024.
