Dollar Tree store to open in Hart

By Allison Scarbrough, News Editor

HART — A new dollar store will be opening in Hart soon after the city’s planning commission approved a site plan last week.

“At last Thursday’s meeting, they approved a site plan to construct a Dollar Tree on Polk Road in between the current location of AutoZone and Excel Propane,” said Hart City Manager Rob Splane.

Construction of the 9,800-square-feet store on the 1.75 acre site is expected to happen quickly.

“The intention is to begin construction in early spring and have the store open in 2024,” said Splane.

“Our planning consultant who reviewed the plan said that they worked with the same developer that’s working on behalf of Dollar Tree and that their process is streamlined, really professional, and that the way they go about their builds is really methodical.”

Work on the project has not yet begun other than site surveys, said Splane. Several trees will need to be cut down, he said.

It will be the first Dollar Tree store in Oceana County.
