Obituary: Clarence Huizenga Jr., 93, of Hart

Clarence Huizenga Jr., 93, of Hart, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on Saturday, January 27, 2024. He was born November 28, 1930, in Roseland, Illinois, the son of Clarence and Jacoba Huizenga, the oldest of nine children.

Clare served his country in the U.S. Army, and was a proud veteran. Following his time in the military, Clare primarily worked driving concrete trucks for Ozinga. Following retirement, he helped his son build houses, and he also drove trucks for Peterson Farms. He and his wife, Christine, were also very involved in the SOWER Ministry, traveling all over with their fifth wheel, serving others through Christ.

Clare had many hobbies, including singing, playing the organ, traveling, and truck and model train building. Clarence also enjoyed storytelling and attending services at First Baptist Church in Hart.

Clare is survived by: his children, Clarence III (Jennifer) Huizenga and Chad (Christi) Huizenga; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Dena Wichers, Jennie Shiel, Linda Van Esch, and Catherine (Thomas) Dostart.

On December 5, 1954, Clarence married Christine (Kort) Huizenga, and she preceded him in death on April 8, 2022, after 68 years of marriage. Clare was also preceded in death by: his parents; grandson, Camron; four siblings.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon, Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Hart, 3258 North 72nd Avenue, Hart, with Pastor Ryan Vander Zwaag officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, from 11 a.m. until time of services at the church. Interment will be in Hart Cemetery in the spring.
