Obituary: Charles Plough, 85, of Pentwater

Charles Erlan Plough, 85, of Pentwater, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024. He was born June 11, 1938, in Laurium, the son of Harry and Edna Plough.

Charlie proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, and was a veteran of the Cold War. He loved education and bettering his knowledge. He was a graduate of Michigan Technological University, and was both a civil engineer and mechanical engineer. Charlie worked for a number of years in Alaska on the Trans-Atlantic Pipeline, and also worked on many different projects around the state of Michigan and beyond. He was heavily involved in the development of US-31, the development of his subdivision, and multiple roads and bridges.

Besides Charlie’s love of education and work, he also enjoyed wood working, having made many of his own furniture pieces. He was also very fond of his black Pontiac Trans-Am, and would always shake hands with people he met, telling them “Don’t forget me.”

Charlie married Amy Lou (Gregwer) Plough on June 8, 1974, and she survives him, along with his sister, Edna (Ken) Kesti; brother, Lowell Plough; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charlie was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Irving Plough; and sister-in-law, Carol Plough.

Catholic funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 2 p.m., Friday, January 26, 2024, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel, 2370 North 72nd Avenue, Hart, with Fr. Phil Sliwinski presiding. Visitation will be held Friday, from 1 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pentwater Township Cemetery in the spring.
