WALKERVILLE — The Wildcats are celebrating homecoming this week.

The 2024 Walkerville homecoming queen and king will be crowned in the Walkerville High School gym Friday, Jan. 26, during halftime of the boys varsity basketball game against Marion. The festivities will feature a hoops “double header” with the girls varsity Wildcat team taking on Mason County Eastern at 6 p.m. The boys game follows at 7:30 p.m.

The Wildcats will have a homecoming dance Saturday, Jan. 27, from 8-11 p.m. at the Walkerville Wesleyan Church.

This year’s homecoming theme is “Enchanted Forest,” said faculty advisor Mandy Achterhof. “There will be an assembly every day this week with students competing in games like big ball volleyball, tug-of-war, dodgeball and musical chairs,” said Achterhof.

There is a dress up theme for each day this week. Monday is college/university day; Tuesday is twin day; Wednesday is class color day; Thursday is sports day; and Friday is Wildcat pride day. Classes are competing with each other by creating posters for the gym for the Homecoming game; hallway/locker decorating; mock rock, and a collaborative Wildcat head poster.
