Obituary: Sharon Bell Shaw, 76, of Pentwater

March 22, 1947 – December 24, 2023

Sharon Bell Shaw, 76, of Richland and Pentwater, and formerly of Fayetteville, Ga., passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023. Born on March 22, 1947, to Henry Otis Bell and Cecile Fowler Bell, Sharon’s life was a profound illustration of devotion—to her family, her students, and her faith.

A graduate of R.E. Lee High School in Thomaston, Ga., in 1966, Sharon pursued her love for mathematics at Georgia College, where she earned her bachelor of arts degree, and eventually earned her master of education degree from Georgia State University. With a heart for service and an intellect for the complexities of math, she spent fifty rewarding years in education. Her career began in Clayton County, Ga. Public Schools and culminated at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School in Fayetteville, Ga., where she taught until her retirement in 2020.

Sharon’s love story with David Shaw began with their marriage on August 9, 1975. Together, they built a life rich in love and learning. Sharon was not only a dedicated educator but also a loving wife and a nurturing mother, wholeheartedly committed to the well-being of her family. Her son, Nicholas, is a living tribute to her boundless love and the values she cherished.

Her faith in Christ was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life’s triumphs and trials with grace and fortitude. Sharon’s kindness, strength, and unwavering faith left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Sharon is lovingly remembered by her husband, David; son, Nicholas; brother, Tony Bell; and the countless friends, students, and colleagues whose lives she touched. She is reunited in glory with her parents, Henry and Cecile Bell.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Pentwater Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. at the church.

Arrangements were entrusted to Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington, www.OakGroveLudington.com.
