The police news is a presentation of Smith & Eddy Insurance, serving west Michigan since 1902, smith-eddy.com.

A 42-year-old New Era woman was arrested by Oceana County sheriff’s deputies Friday, Dec. 22, shortly after 5:30 p.m. for “super drunk driving” (operating with a high blood alcohol content) after driving the wrong way on US 31 between Hart and Shelby, said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

Deputies had to use stop sticks, which deflate tires, to get the driver to stop, said the sheriff. She was traveling north in the southbound lane, he said. Central dispatch received several 911 calls of the wrong-way driver. No one was injured.
