Employment Opportunity: Amber Township (Mason County) Assessor

Amber Township, Mason County is seeking a part time employee to fill the Assessor position beginning April 1, 2024.

The 2023 SEV is $159,587,100. The parcel breakdown is as follows; Agricultural 77, Commercial 162, Industrial 17, Residential 1,193, and Personal 177 for a total of 1,626. Level 3 (MAAO) certification preferred.

The assessor is expected to remain in compliance with the standards and policies set forth by the State Tax Commission, administer the Land Division process, attend monthly Board meetings, oversee the March, July, and December Boards of Review, receive and process deeds, Principal Residence Exemptions, Property Transfer Affidavits, Disabled Veterans Exemptions, Poverty Applications and other exemption programs. The assessor will inspect, measure and calculate new construction, receive and calculate personal property, respond to tax tribunal appeals, and work with the County Equalization Department with processing required forms. Proficiency in BSA is required. The position does not require office hours, but it is expected that responses to the public and other entities will be made in a timely manner.
