Hart man arrested for assault with knife

HART TOWNSHIP — A 43-year-old Hart man faces a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon after a woman was injured Sunday evening, Dec. 10, at a residence on Oceana Drive, according to Michigan State Police Trooper Spencer Toepfer.

Jeffrey E. Thorne was arrested and lodged in the Oceana County Jail. He was in possession of a knife at the time of the assault.

“There is an ongoing investigation,” said Toepfer. The victim was treated at an area hospital. 

Authorities would not confirm if the woman’s injuries were the result of a stabbing.

Thorne is scheduled for a preliminary exam in Oceana County’s 79th District Court Jan. 2 at 1 p.m.

His bond was set at $10,000/cash/surety/10 percent.
