Pentwater Junior Women’s Club announces funding projects

PENTWATER — Pentwater Junior Women’s Club announces projects funded in 2023, which include:

  • Purchase of a 3D printer for the Pentwater Schools coding classroom, helping students understand 3D technologies, design and simulation; application engineering, process and materials; data preparation skills; machine operation; post-processing and surface finishing; and definition of quality.
  • Michigan Dunes Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution supporting the cleaning of headstones in the Pentwater Cemetery to restore unreadable headstones.
  • Pentwater Schools Humanities Department providing high-quality video equipment — ring lights, green screen and tripods — for student video creation. The art department also collaborates with elementary classes to produce multimedia pieces.
  • Pentwater Police Department for enhancing the school resource officer program with personal hygiene products provided to meet individual’s needs in a discreet drawstring bag. The supplies will be provided on an “as needed” basis to assist students and help to create a safe environment for help and referrals to area organizations when appropriate.

Funding requests from local organizations must benefit the greater Pentwater area. Requests are divided into two categories — mini grants and larger requests. Funded projects are based upon availability of funds and the annual budget of PJWC. Funding guidelines and the funding request form are located on the PJWC website: www.pentwaterjrwomensclub.com

Examples of past projects funded include: Pentwater south entrance garden and welcome sign; contributions towards the renovation of the Friendship Center now Park Place; a handicapped walkway at Charles Mears State Park Beach; and a drinking fountain on Village Green.

PJWC also funds the Feeding America mobile food pantry located at the fire barn the third Tuesday of the month. It is a volunteer service club of women dedicated to promoting and improving the local community of Pentwater. The club organizes the premier Pentwater Juried Art and Craft Fair, now in its 59th year on the second Saturday in July.
