Obituary: Richard Page, 86, of Pentwater
Richard Burton Page, 86, of Pentwater, formally of Flushing, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023.
Richard, lovingly known as Dick or Gabby, was born on June 16, 1937, the son of the late Burton and Loraine (Spitler) Page. In 1955, Dick graduated from Hart High School. He went on to further his education by earning his bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University, and later earning his master’s degree from Michigan State University. On August 24, 1963, Dick married his forever love and best friend, Carol (Klein) Page.
Dick had a passion for children, especially students. In 1997, after 37 years, he retired as a junior high guidance counselor at Carman-Ainsworth Community Schools. During that time, he was also a junior high basketball coach, and was part of the Flint boys summer baseball program. He was also employed by the Oceana County Road Commission. He was a proud member of Central Michigan University Alumni Association as well as the Pentwater Chamber of Commerce.
Dick was an avid sports lover. He was especially fond of playing a round (or two) of golf, and watching football, basketball, and golf. He also enjoyed traveling the United Sates, and camping. In later years he enjoyed sitting at Channel Lane watching the boats come in and out of Pentwater.
Richard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol Page; only daughter, Julie (Troy) Smith of Pentwater; granddaughter, Ashley (Chris) Fillwock of Sparta; sister, Barbara (Paul) Usiak of New Era; brother-in-law, Bill Klein of Gladwin; and many nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Burton, and Loraine Page.
In accordance with Dicks’ wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place in the spring.
