Man sentenced to prison for CSC

HART — A 21-year-old man was sentenced to three to 15 years in prison in Oceana County’s 51st Circuit Court Monday, Nov. 27, for a conviction of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Jahvauntay James Starks pleaded “no contest” to the charge, Oct. 16. The sexual assault of a 9-year-old girl occurred Feb. 4, 2023 in the Village of Shelby, said Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon. 

Starks is required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. He received credit for 138 days served in jail and was also ordered to pay $598 in fines and costs.
