OWI arrests top police activity over the holiday weekend

The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office handled three operating while intoxicated arrests over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, along with arrests for felonious assault and domestic violence, according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

The following is police activity in Oceana County over the holiday weekend:

Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023:

  • 12:54 p.m., (Michigan State Police), a 57-year-old Shelby woman was cited for operating without insurance, M 20 near South 110th Avenue, Shelby Township.
  • 4:47 p.m., (MSP), a 24-year-old New Era man was cited for operating without insurance, State Street near Polk Road, City of Hart.
  • 5:08 p.m., (Oceana County Sheriff’s Office), a 57-year-old Rothbury woman was arrested for operating while intoxicated and open intoxicants, South Oceana Drive near Winston Road, Grant Township. She was lodged in the Oceana County Jail.
  • 8:10 p.m., (MSP), a 34-year-old New Era woman was cited for operating without a license, M 20 near 184th Avenue, Newfield Township.
  • 11:29 p.m., (OCSO), a 41-year-old Hart man was arrested for operating while intoxicated, North Oceana Drive near Monroe Road, Weare Township. He was lodged in the Oceana County Jail.

Thursday, Nov. 23, 2023:

  • 10:10 p.m., (OCSO), a 27-year-old Shelby man was arrested for operating while intoxicated, East Baseline Road, Ferry Township. He was lodged in the Oceana County Jail.

Friday, Nov. 24, 2023:

  • 4 a.m., (OCSO), fleeing and eluding police, South 116th Avenue and McKinley Road, Otto Township. A deputy attempted to stop a red sedan that sped into Muskegon County, topping out at 108 mph.
  • 1:22 p.m., (OCSO), a 31-year-old Hesperia man was arrested for felonious assault, 5200 block of South 168th Avenue, Greenwood Township. No one was injured. The victim, who is a 57-year-old Hesperia man, told deputies that the suspect wielded a shotgun and he heard shots fired. The incident arose from a neighbor dispute about a dog.
  • 9:51 p.m., (OCSO), a Smith & Wesson handgun valued at $300 was reported stolen, 1100 block of East Clock Road, Elbridge Township.

Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023:

  • 12:34 a.m., (OCSO), a 23-year-old New Era woman was arrested for domestic violence, 5300 block of South 90th Avenue, Grant Township.
  • 3:06 p.m., (OCSO), domestic violence, no arrests, 2000 block of East River Road, Crystal Township.
  • 3:15 p.m., (MSP), three juveniles were cited for vaping, Maple Island Road near the Family Dollar store, Village of Hesperia. One juvenile was also cited for marijuana possession.

Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023:

  • 12:26 a.m., domestic violence, 2000 block of East Union Street, City of Hart.
