Pentwater Arts Council awards over $5,500 in grants to local schools

PENTWATER — The Pentwater Arts Council is awarding over $5,500 in grants to local schools for the purchase of musical instruments and art supplies.

Recipients include:

  • New Era Christian and Oceana Christian schools music program for the purchase of high-quality glockenspiels for student use at both schools.
  • Pentwater Public School band program for the purchase of better quality clarinets for students in grades 8-12 who are ready to move up to more advanced instruments and as older instruments are cycled out.
  • Pentwater Public School art program for the purchase of drawing materials for students in 8-12 grades. A collaboration between the school and James Oxford, a Hollywood concept illustrator donating his time, will help students strengthen their drawing skills in portraiture and perspective drawing.
  • Shelby Public Schools elementary art program for the purchase of polymer clay and tools to add clay projects to the art curriculum for over 500 elementary students.

The council annually awards grant money to Oceana schools who apply. The Pentwater Arts Council’s mission is supporting the arts and advancing arts education in Pentwater and Oceana County.
