Shelby Middle School to host Veterans Day assembly Friday

Tiger Pride is a presentation of Shelby Public Schools in partnership with Oceana County Press.

SHELBY — The Shelby Middle School will host a Veterans Day assembly Friday, Nov. 10, at 10 a.m. in the school gym.

Veterans and their families are invited to attend.

The program will begin with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the “Star Spangled Banner” performed by the SMS Cadet Band under the direction of Erin Ray. Then, the SMS Choir will perform “America the Free” under the direction of Gustavo Morales. Honored speaker will be Dave Johnson, of the US Navy (retired). Student council members will present readings in honor of the veterans.

The band will perform “American Fanfare,” followed by a moment of silence and the playing of “Taps.”

Refreshments will be served in the middle school library after the program.
