Pentwater man injured in US 31 car/deer crash

HART TOWNSHIP — A 64-year-old Pentwater man sustained minor injuries in a vehicle crash on US 31 near Tyler Road Sunday, Oct. 29, around 10:45 a.m., according to Michigan State Police Sgt. Dan Thomas.

“He hit a deer and went into the median,” said Sgt. Thomas.

MSP responded to eight car/deer crashes in Oceana County over the weekend as deer are on the move this time of year for rutting season. The rut spans from approximately late October to late November. As it arrives, mature bucks become increasingly active, attempting to establish dominance within their territory. They abandon typical daytime habits and begin moving about in search of a mate.
