State fire marshal visits Thomas Read Elementary School

SHELBY — Michigan State Fire Marshal Kevin Sehlmeyer visited Thomas Read Elementary School Wednesday, Oct. 18.
As part of fire prevention activities during the month of October, the fire marshal travels around the state, reading to second and third grade classes.
The Shelby-Benona Fire Department was able to connect with Sehlmeyer and arranged for him to visit second and third graders at Thomas Read. He read two books and shared a fire safety message with the students. It was an ideal follow-up to the visit that the fire department did the previous week.
The fire marshal also provided calendars to all second and third grade classes in Oceana County.
