HART — An inspirational presentation for migrant students and families is set for Sunday, Oct. 22, at 6 p.m. at Hart Public Schools Auditorium.

The free presentation will be provided by Ovidilio Vásquez who “is a national keynote speaker who went from a farm boy raised in a poor village in the sugarcane fields of Central America to being accepted to Harvard Business School Online,” states ovinspires. “Ovi has worked for global corporations like Apple, Tesla, Salesforce, Uber and others.

“Labeled ‘at-risk’ in high school, he still graduatedin three short years. He earned his B.A. in business management in two years and is a TEDx speaker on self-leadership. He is the author of six books, including a #1 bestseller on Amazon, and has been a recurrent on-air collaborator for Univision.

“Ovi is a role model for first-generation college students. He educates and connects with students by sharing his remarkable story and insights on how they can succeed in school. Through social media — Ovi has helped thousands nationwide by sharing over $2 million in scholarships for minority students.”

“This event is for our migrant and ELL (English language learners) population here at Hart Public Schools,” said Hart Middle School Migrant/ELL teacher Ken Kimes.

Migrant and ELL students make up about 20 percent of the district’s 1,400 population,” said Kimes. “We have 106 migrant students and 181 ELL students district-wide.”

Sunday’s program “is designed to motivate these learners in school and stress the importance of education within our community here in Hart,” said Kimes. “Ovi Vasquez, our speaker, not only tells his story about how he immigrated to the U.S., but gives examples of how our migrant and ELL students can further their education after high school with the many different programs that are offered out there for the taking. Ovi has a lot to offer as a speaker and those that attend will definitely get something out of it.”

The auditorium is located in Hart Middle School. Food will be provided on a first come, first serve basis.
