Police seek public’s help in finding man who allegedly hit gas pump
WALKERVILLE — The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a “person of interest” allegedly involved in hitting a gas pump with a pickup truck at the Walkerville KwikMart Friday, Oct. 13, around 3 p.m., according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.
The man reportedly came into the store after the collision and provided insurance and contact information that cannot be verified, said Sheriff Mast.
The damage caused to the pump may require total replacement of the fixture, which is estimated to cost $26,000.
“He’s a person of interest, and we’d like to talk to him further,” said Mast. “The information he provided can’t be corroborated and appears suspicious.”
The man appears to be approximately 70 years old with short gray hair, wearing glasses, a baseball cap and a tan or beige colored jacket. He was driving a black Ford pickup truck with gold trim.
If anyone has any information, they should contact the sheriff’s office at 231-873-2121.
