Drunk driving, retail fraud arrests top police activity

The following is recent police activity in Oceana County:

Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023:

• 12:21 a.m., (Oceana County Sheriff’s Office), a 22-year-old New Era man was arrested for retail fraud, Wesco, Village of New Era. The man is accused of stealing alcohol and food totaling over $128. He was lodged in the Oceana County Jail.
• 5:57 p.m., (OCSO), malicious destruction of property and trespassing, North 88th Avenue near VanBuren Road, Weare Township. A suspect allegedly ran over small trees and shrubs with a vehicle near a property line.

Friday, Oct. 13, 2023:

• 1:52 a.m.,(OCSO), domestic violence, no arrest, 7100 block of Clearwater Court, Village of Rothbury.
• 1:10 p.m.,(OCSO), aggravated assault involving a juvenile suspect, 600 block of North State Street, Village of Shelby.
• 1:18 p.m.,(OCSO), trespassing, 7800 block of East Hemlock Ridge Drive, Greenwood Township. 
• 1:23 p.m.,(OCSO), a 40-year-old Hesperia woman was arrested for operating while under the influence of drugs and retail fraud after the vehicle she was driving crashed into a gas pump, Hesperia EZ Mart, Village of Hesperia. The suspect allegedly stole over $69 in fuel at the pump. She was lodged in the Oceana County Jail.

Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023:

• 12:36 a.m.,(OCSO), domestic violence, no arrest, 8400 block of East Monroe Road, Colfax Township.
• 1:36 p.m.,(OCSO), a 27-year-old Hesperia woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant, East Jackson Road, Colfax Township. She was lodged in the Oceana County Jail. A substance believed to be methamphetamine was confiscated, and a charge of methamphetamine possession is pending lab analysis.

Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023:

• 1:11 a.m.,(Michigan State Police), a 60-year-old Hart man was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 80th Avenue near Oceana Drive, Weare Township. He was lodged in the Oceana County Jail.
• 1:50 a.m.,(OCSO), a 19-year-old Muskegon man was arrested for operating while intoxicated, and three passengers — a 16-year-old Muskegon girl, a 17-year-old Muskegon girl and an 18-year-old Muskegon woman — were all cited for minor in possession of alcohol. The male suspect was lodged in the Oceana County Jail.
