Man transported to hospital following crash, drugged driving charge pending

OTTO TOWNSHIP — A criminal charge of operating while under the influence of drugs against a 35-year-old Rothbury man is pending lab analysis of a blood draw following a one-vehicle crash Tuesday, Sept. 19, shortly before 7 a.m. on South 116th Avenue near Roosevelt Road, according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

The man was transported to Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital following the crash, said Sheriff Mast.

The following is other recent police activity in Oceana County:

Monday, Sept. 18, 2023:

  • 2:25 p.m., (Oceana County Sheriff’s Office), larceny of $10 in gas, 9000 block of East Hawley Road, Newfield Township.
  • 5:04 p.m., (OCSO), larceny of cash totaling over $84 and a child’s bike, 5800 block of West Fifth Street, Mears.
  • 6:19 p.m., (OCSO), assault, 3700 block of West Washington Road, Weare Township. A 66-year-old Pentwater man is accused of assaulting a 55-year-old Norton Shores man. No arrest was made.

Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023:

  • 6:25 p.m., (OCSO), a 48-year-old Muskegon man was arrested on an outstanding warrant and a charge of operating without insurance, West Winston Road, Village of Rothbury.
  • 10:10 p.m., (OCSO), a 45-year-old Hesperia man allegedly threatened a 62-year-old Hesperia man with a machete while he was armed with an ax, 4500 block of South 198th Avenue, Newfield Township. The report will be forwarded to the Oceana County Prosecutor’s Office for review of possible charges of aggravated assault and threats. 

Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023:

  • 5:22 p.m., (OCSO), domestic violence, 2500 block of West Scenic Drive, Village of Rothbury.
  • 9:33 p.m., (OCSO), a 45-year-old New Era man was arrested on a failure to appear warrant and for open intoxicants, and a 48-year-old New Era woman was cited for operating without insurance, 192nd Avenue near Skeels Road, Greenwood Township. A charge of methamphetamine possession is pending lab results against the male suspect.
  • 9:37 p.m., (OCSO), a 34-year-old Hesperia man was arrested for driving while license revoked, operating without insurance and improper license plate, East Arthur Road, Greenwood Township.
  • 10:13 p.m., (Michigan State Police), a 39-year-old Shelby man was arrested for assault, 200 block of Sessions Road, Village of Shelby.

Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023: 

  • 12:27 a.m., (OCSO), a 50-inch flat screen TV that was for sale for $60 along the side of the road was stolen, 98th Avenue and Ferry Street, Village of Shelby.
  • 3:19 p.m., (OCSO), bathrooms at the Walkerville Village Park were damaged, 100 block of West Main Street, Village of Walkerville.
  • 10:10 p.m., (OCSO), malicious destruction of property and larceny, 7200 block of West Stony Lake Road, Claybanks Township. A pickup truck was allegedly tampered with and water was poured into its fuel tank, causing $2,000 in repairs. Cash was reportedly stolen from a camper trailer, and fruit was stolen from an orchard.
