ELBRIDGE TOWNSHIP — Gale’s Pond is one of eight Oceana County parks. Located at 49 E. Filmore Rd., the pond was once the site of a sawmill, blacksmith shop and railroad. In the late 1800s a waterwheel powered a sawmill north of the present dam. The property was deeded to the county by Del Gale. The park was developed in the 1930s, during the Great Depression, as a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project.

The park is about 19 acres and features a 2,500-feet handicap-accessible boardwalk that links with a nature trail. The park also features a picnic area. It is also located just a short distance from Doolittle County Park, which also offers nature trails and a picnic area.
