Several teens cited for possessing alcohol
CLAYBANKS TOWNSHIP — Two different groups of teenagers were cited by Oceana County sheriff’s deputies for minor in possession of alcohol/MIP during the early morning hours of Saturday, Aug. 19, according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.
Four 17-year-old boys received MIP citations on West Winston Road at 2:37 a.m. Two of the boys are from Whitehall — one of whom is also being charged with operating while intoxicated; one is from Shelby; and the fourth is from Twin Lake.
The second group of teens charged with MIP were apprehended on Webster Road near 60th Avenue at 2:45 a.m., said the sheriff. They include an 18-year-old Rothbury man, an 18-year-old New Era man, a 20-year-old Rothbury man, a 17-year-old New Era girl and a 15-year-old Shelby girl. Suspects aged 17 and younger are turned over to their parents.

Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023:
- 2:30 p.m., (Michigan State Police), a 54-year-old Shelby man was arrested for operating while under the influence of drugs, US 31 near mile marker 138, Grant Township.
Friday, Aug. 18, 2023:
- 7:30 p.m., (MSP), hit-and-run crash, US 31 near Tyler Road, Hart Township. A pickup truck hauling a trailer cut off a semi truck, causing a tire to blow out on the semi truck. The fleeing driver then exited off the expressway onto Monroe Road.
Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023:
- 12:36 p.m., (OCSO), a GMC Envoy reported stolen out of White Cloud was recovered on a federal forest two-track in Otto Township. The vehicle was turned over to MSP , which handled the initial complaint.
- 8:27 p.m., (OCSO), larceny of three aluminum ladders valued at a total of $145, 5400 block of East Deer Road, Leavitt Township.
Sunday, Aug. 20, 2023:
- 1:14 a.m., (OCSO), a 37-year-old Hesperia man was cited for driving while license suspended , M 20, Ferry Township.
