Riding in honor of fallen officers

WEARE TOWNSHIP — The Michigan Police Unity Team made a pit stop at the West Michigan Research Station Tuesday morning, Aug. 15.

The team includes more than 40 law enforcement officers from local, state and federal agencies across Michigan who honor fallen officers by riding bicycles.

The cyclists rode north through Oceana County with a final stop for the day in Manistee.

“The support team provided them with some nourishment while they were able to take a break on their 92-mile day,” said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast. The sheriff and Undersheriff Ryan Schiller met with the cyclists during their stop Tuesday.

The team began its trek in St. Joseph and will continue northward to Petoskey, raising support for micops.org.
