Jury deliberates for four minutes to find Montague man guilty of meth possession

HART — It took a jury just four minutes to render a guilty verdict for a 34-year-old Montague man Wednesday, Aug. 9, in Oceana County’s 51st Circuit Court, convicting him of methamphetamine possession.
The jury heard testimony about how Cameron Scott Golightly, of 3527 W. Webster Rd., was one of two men passed out in a car parked in the Dollar General parking lot in Rothbury last December.
“On Dec. 7, 2022 officers were dispatched to a wellbeing check for two men passed out in a car at 9 a.m. at the Rothbury Dollar General in Grant Township,” said Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon. “Officers quickly discovered the two men were alive and responsive but appeared to be under the influence of some substance. The officer asked Mr. Golightly how much meth he had on him, and Mr. Golightlly handed the officer the methamphetamine which was later tested to be confirmed to be methamphetamine.”
“After a six-hour jury trial, Cameron Golightly was convicted of controlled substance — possession of methamphetamine,” said Bizon. “The jury deliberated for four minutes.”
Golightly remains lodged in the Oceana County Jail awaiting sentencing set for Oct. 2.
