Pentwater’s 93rd Homecoming celebration begins Thursday
PENTWATER — The 93rd Annual Homecoming Celebration is set for Thursday through Sunday, Aug. 10-13.
This event has grown to become the largest and most cherished occasion in Pentwater, drawing both locals and visitors to come “home” and revel in the festivities.
Among the highlights are the Farmers Market, the Strawberry Shortcake Social, the combined concert featuring the Pentwater Civic Band and the popular Scottville Clown Band, the Sand Sculpture Contest, the Horseshoe Tournament, the Big Ten Preseason Tailgate Party, the Grand Parade and the fireworks display.
“The Pentwater Homecoming Celebration is a favorite event which showcases the warmth and camaraderie shared among our community members and visitors. It is a joyous occasion where all are welcome, and we are proud to see it get better with each passing year,” said Executive Director of the Pentwater Chamber of Commerce Eva Gregwer.
Event Schedule:
Thursday, Aug. 10:
- 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Farmers Market, Village Green
- 6 p.m. – Strawberry Shortcake Social, Village Green
- 7:30 p.m. – Les Bailey Memorial Concert with the Pentwater Civic Band and the Scottville Clown Band, Village Green
Friday, Aug. 11:
- 8 a.m. to noon – Sand Sculpture Contest, Charles Mears State Park. Theme: Celebrating the History of Pentwater.
- 1 p.m. – Storytelling by Storybook Village
- 3 p.m. – Pentwater Women’s Club Quilt Raffle, Pentwater Chamber of Commerce
- 8 p.m. – Movies on the Village Green
Saturday, Aug. 12:
- 11:45 a.m. – Ensign Race, Pentwater Yacht Club
- Noon to 8 p.m. – Big Ten Tailgate Party, Village Cafe & Pub
- 1 p.m. – Horseshoe Tournaments, Art Audrey Memorial Horseshoe Pits at Fire Barn. Contact Dennis Veine at 231-869-4169 for more info.
- 4 p.m. – Grand Parade.
- Dusk – Fireworks over Lake Michigan, Charles Mears State Park
Sunday, Aug. 13:
- 8 a.m. to noon – Pancake Breakfast at Pentwater VFW Hall
