Man arrested for indecent exposure at Stony Lake beach

BENONA TOWNSHIP — A 25-year-old Grand Rapids man was arrested by Oceana County sheriff’s deputies for indecent exposure Wednesday, July 5, around 1 a.m. at the Benona Township Park, commonly known as the “Stony Lake Oval.”

When deputies arrived on scene, they observed nine naked males on the Lake Michigan beach near a campfire mimicking “Ooga Booga” caveman sounds, said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

One of the subjects — the 25-year-old Grand Rapids man — ran away from the deputies and was apprehended and arrested. The other subjects were issued warnings, said Sheriff Mast.

Alcohol is believed to be involved in the incident.
