GOLDEN TOWNSHIP — A 79-year-old Hart man severely injured his foot in a moped crash on North 56th Avenue near Polk Road Sunday, June 18, shortly after 8 p.m., according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report.
The man “left a parking space in the parking lot of Wilson’s General Store/fuel station operating his moped,” states the report. “He left through the parking lot to the north, losing control of the moped and falling over.” The report states that he “severely injured his left foot, breaking bones, and was transported to the hospital. The moped was unregistered, uninsured, and (he) had a revoked driver’s license status. Family on scene took possession of the moped.”
The man was transported by Life EMS to Trinity Health Mercy Hospital in Muskegon. He was operating a 2017 Taotao ATM50-A.
He was not wearing a helmet and speeding, the report states. Alcohol and drugs were not contributing factors in the crash.
