Hesperia woman dies, 4-year-old boy critically injured in crash
GRANT TOWNSHIP — A 59-year-old Hesperia woman died in a vehicle crash Friday, June 16, shortly after 7 p.m. on Winston Road near Rothbury, and a 4-year-old Muskegon boy was critically injured, according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report.
They were passengers in a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu that was traveling east on Winston Road near Water Road when the driver, who is a 61-year-old Hesperia man, had a possible heart attack.
“The vehicle excited the roadway to the south and struck a tree,” states the report. Tina Marie Davison, who was a front seat passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Driver Phillip Gale Davison and the 4-year-old rear seat passenger, James Wayne Gluc, were transported by Life EMS to Trinity Health Hospital Muskegon. The boy was then airlifted via Aeromed to Grand Rapids for critical injuries.
All three vehicle occupants were wearing seatbelts, according to the report.
“This appeared to be a medical situation that led to the accident,” said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast. “It’s very sad.”
