Man arrested for cocaine possession, false armed robbery report

HART — A 28-year-old Hart man faces charges of making a false police report and cocaine possession after allegedly making a 911 call stating that the Dunes Express Inn & Suites near Polk Road was being robbed, according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

Patrick James McLouth, of 1900 E. Monroe Rd., has been arraigned on the charges in Oceana County’s 79th District Court, according to court records.

“He reported an armed robbery in progress,” said Mast. McLouth, who was staying at the hotel as a guest, told the 911 dispatcher that a masked man wearing camouflage was pointing a gun at a female clerk. When police arrived, they found the clerk who said there was no such robbery.

McLouth was also in possession of what appeared to be psychedelic mushrooms, which have been sent to the Michigan State Police crime lab for analysis, said Mast.

The incident occurred Saturday, May 20, just after 5 a.m.

He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday, June 6, at 1 p.m. for a probable cause conference and June 13 at 1 p.m. for a preliminary exam. His bail was set at $5,000/cash/surety/10 percent.
