Memorial Day parade schedule

The following are Memorial Day parades and ceremonies in Oceana County Monday, May 29:

New Era: 9 a.m. parade downtown. Route begins at New Era Christian School; goes down First Street; and ends at Veterans Park where there will be a brief ceremony.

Rothbury: 9 a.m. service at the cemetery across from the Rothbury Community Church, followed by a service at Oak Grove Cemetery on Webster Road. Master of Ceremonies is Bill Wagner. The American Legion Color Guard from Whitehall will be there as well as members of the Grant Township Fire Department.

Walkerville: 9 a.m., service at Fairlawn Cemetery west of the village. Veterans will assemble at the Veterans Memorial to participate in a traditional observance. 

Ferry: 9 a.m., services begin at the North Cemetery; proceed to the South Cemetery at 9:30 a.m.; then the Otto Township Cemetery at 10 a.m.; and wrap up with a parade in town at 10:30 a.m. 

Shelby: 10 a.m. parade begins at Shelby Middle School and ends at Veterans Park by the Shelby Congregational Church. The ceremony will include a guest speaker, the performing of Taps and a 21-gun salute. 

Pentwater: 10 a.m. parade line-up on First Street with services at the municipal marina, Village Green and Pentwater Cemetery. 

Hesperia: 10 a.m., services at the Vida Weaver Park and then West Cemetery. 

Hart: 11 a.m. parade begins in front of the Oceana County Courthouse downtown and continues to Hart Cemetery.
