Fire destroys Walkerville-area trailer

A single-wide trailer at 609 Clock Road was totally destroyed by fire Thursday evening, May 18, said Hart Fire Chief Dwight Fuehring.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the family of four displaced by the fire. No one was injured in the blaze.

Firefighters from Walkerville, Hart, Crystal Township and Ferry Township responded to the scene.

The fire, which appeared to be an electrical fire, was extinguished Thursday afternoon, but it reignited when the power apparently was turned back on later that evening, said Fuehring. Firefighters were on scene for the first call for about a half hour to 45 minutes and about four hours the second time. The fire then rekindled Friday, May 19, around 12:40 p.m.

The trailer is insured, said Fuehring, and it was a total loss.

OCP was unsuccessful in reaching the commander on scene, Noah VanderZande of the Walkerville Fire Department. Walkerville was assisted by Hart, Crystal and Ferry.
