WEARE TOWNSHIP — The first marijuana dispensary in Oceana County, Supergood, is set to open just in time for summer at the start of Memorial Day Weekend, May 26.

The new cannabis store is located in the historic River House Trading Post building on Monroe Road by US 31. Although it may look quite familiar from the exterior, the interior has undergone major renovations.

“We got our approval from the state on Friday,” said CEO James Haas. “That gives us the ability to order product.”

Cresco Labs in Marshall, Michigan rush-shipped product to the new store Saturday. “For the rest of the week, we’re going to be taking shipments. Once we have a little bit more inventory, we will flip the sign outside that we’re open.”

The recreational cannabis facility gives those with medical marijuana cards a 10-15 percent discount, said Haas. Supergood will offer an $80/ounce special. “And that’s the good stuff.”

The store’s “soft opening” began this week.

“We wanted to have a coastal footprint,” said Haas of selecting the Pentwater area location. “We’re the only one between Manistee and Whitehall.” He is opening other stores in New Buffalo and Kalamazoo.

The showroom offers new walls, ceiling and floors. Haas said he has invested over $200,000 into renovating the building and installing security and fire safety systems.

The dispensary offers curbside pickup. All customers must be 21 years old and are required to provide a valid ID.

The store, which will be open seven days a week, brought 10 new jobs to the area. “Everyone is local — I think the person furthest away is from Ludington.” Supergood is also looking to hire more employees.

“We’re really happy to be here. The township has been fantastic to work with; the people have been great; and the community has been very helpful. We’re really excited to open.”
