Motorcyclist flees from deputy in high-speed chase 

‘I was traveling 120 mph, and the bike was still pulling away from me’

CRYSTAL TOWNSHIP — A motorcyclist outran a sheriff’s deputy during a high-speed chase that began on North 126th Avenue near Jackson Road Sunday, April 16, around 8:40 p.m., according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

While on patrol, an Oceana County sheriff’s deputy spotted a black crotch rocket sport bike without a license plate. When the deputy turned the patrol car around to follow the motorcycle, it passed a vehicle in a no passing zone. The deputy then activated his lights to pull the bike over. 

“The bike continued north at a high rate of speed and failed to stop,” said Sheriff Mast. The deputy then activated the patrol car’s siren, and the bike continued to flee. 

“I was traveling 120 mph, and the bike was still pulling away from me,” Mast read from the officer’s report. The deputy then had Central Dispatch alert Mason County law enforcement as the bike was entering the next county. 

“I continued north on 120th Avenue passing East Washington Road into Mason County. I lost sight of the bike at the intersection of South Darr Road and East Meisenheimer Road in Mason County.”
