Hart police investigate string of vehicle break-ins
‘Suspects are going car-to-car or door-to-door checking homes and vehicles to see if they are unlocked.’
HART — The Hart Police Department is investigating a string of vehicle break-ins reported in the 10 block of Water Street Saturday, April 1.
“Suspects are going car-to-car or door-to-door checking homes and vehicles to see if they are unlocked,” states a post on the department’s Facebook page. “If the doors are unlocked, personal property is being stolen.
“The Hart Police Department wants to remind residents to lock their vehicle doors and homes. Most of the breaking and entering cases authorities have seen involve vehicles and homes that are unlocked and have valuables in plain sight. The Hart Police Department strongly encourages people not to leave anything of value in their vehicle, including firearms.
Police are advising residents “to be aware of their surroundings when parking their vehicles and report any suspicious people and vehicles to law enforcement. City of Hart residents can report suspicious activity 24 hours a day by calling 911 or contacting Mason/Oceana Central Dispatch at (231) 869-5858.”
