‘Surge of winter weather’ causes crashes

OCEANA COUNTY — “A surge of winter weather” caused several vehicle crashes Thursday morning, March 23, said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

A crash shortly before 8 a.m. on M 20 near 88th Avenue in Shelby Township resulted in both lanes of the highway to close for about a half hour, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation. Details were not immediately available, but more information will be provided later.

Deputies responded to two rollover crashes shortly before 7 a.m. on US 31 causing minor injuries, said Sheriff Mast. One rollover crash occurred near Clay Road in Grant Township, and the other one happened near Taylor Road in Hart Township, resulting in a 47-year-old North Muskegon woman being transported by Life EMS to Trinity Health Lakeshore Hospital in Shelby.
