Wanted man blows through stop signs while fleeing police

HART — A 50-year-old Hart man wanted on three warrants blew through stop signs at the intersections of Polk Road and State Street and Polk Road and Oceana Drive while fleeing police early Friday morning, March 17, according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

The man was initially spotted by Oceana County sheriff’s deputies at the J&H Family Store on Polk Road around 2:50 a.m. “A deputy approached the vehicle that deputies knew was operated by a wanted individual, and the suspect fled,” said Mast.

After the deputy had identified the man, he reached into the suspect’s vehicle to stop him, but the suspect fled, peeling out of the gas station, heading east on Polk Road. Hart Police Department assisted in the chase, which was terminated on northbound Oceana Drive near Madison Road in Weare Township due to dangerous driving speeds.

The suspect was driving a two-door sedan with an improper California license plate. Police are pursuing a warrant for fleeing and eluding.
