Winter weather advisory begins this evening

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for several west Michigan counties, including Oceana County.

The advisory is in effect from 8 p.m. Friday, March 17, to 2 a.m. Sunday, March 19.

Impacted counties include Oceana, Mason, Muskegon, Newaygo, Lake, Osceola, Mecosta, Montcalm, Ottawa, Kent, Ionia, Allegan, Barry, Van, Buren, Kalamazoo, and Calhoun.

Lake effect snow with accumulations of 2-4 inches is expected along with winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

“Plan on slippery road conditions,” states NWS. “Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. “Slow down and use caution while traveling.”
