Handgun theft tops police activity

NEWFIELD TOWNSHIP — The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the larceny of a handgun in the 1600 block of 186th Avenue that was reported Friday, March 10, at 3 p.m., according to Lt. Shane Hasty.

A juvenile is a possible suspect, said Hasty.

Thursday, March 9, 2023:

  • 7:42 p.m., (Michigan State Police), a 41-year-old Scottville man was arrested on a failure to appear warrant, Leavitt Street, Village of Walkerville.

Friday, March 10, 2023:

  • 5:40 p.m., (MSP), a 19-year-old Scottville woman was cited for operating without insurance, US 31 and Polk Road, Hart Township.

Saturday, March 11, 2023:

  • 11:20 p.m., (OCSO), domestic assault, 2700 block of West Woodrow Road, Shelby Township. A 36-year-old male suspect fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival.
