Winter weather advisory issued for this evening, Friday morning

A winter weather advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for Oceana County and several other Michigan counties beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 9, until 11 a.m. Friday, March 10.

Total snow accumulations of 4-6 inches are expected.

Other counties included in the advisory are Mason, Muskegon, Newaygo, Lake, Osceola, Clare, Mecosta, Isabella, Montcalm, Gratiot, Ottawa, Kent, Ionia, Clinton, Allegan, Barry, Eaton, Ingham, Van Buren, Kalamazoo, Calhoun and Jackson.

“Plan on slippery road conditions,” states NWS. “The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute. Slow down and use caution while traveling. Wet, heavy snow will accumulate to 3-5 inches by late tonight, and travel conditions will become hazardous. Light snow will accumulate an inch or two Friday morning before diminishing Friday afternoon. Travel will likely be hazardous Friday morning.”
