Winter storm warning issued for Oceana County

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Oceana County beginning Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 10 a.m. until Thursday, Feb. 23, at 1 p.m.

Other counties included in the warning are Mason, Newaygo, Lake, Osceola, Clare, Mecosta and Isabella.

“Heavy mixed precipitation is expected,” states NWS. Total snow and sleet accumulations of 3-7 inches and ice accumulations of up to two tenths of an inch are predicted, with winds gusting as high as 45 mph.

“Plan on slippery road conditions. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will greatly impact the Wednesday evening commute.

“The heaviest snow accumulations will be near and north of Highway US 10. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.”
