We have shut down the app, but we are still going strong!

Many of our readers have likely noticed that we no longer have an app. But, there are alternatives (please read below). We ran a post about this a few weeks ago warning that we were going to take the app off line. Please note that Mason County Press and Oceana County Press are going strong, but sometimes in business you have to analyze what is working and what is not. While we certainly had people subscribe to our app, unfortunately we could not justify the monthly fees to keep it going, especially since there are plenty of alternatives to accessing our sites. We review our statistics and data frequently and the app was not getting the engagement we had hoped for.

But, there are other ways to get our news!

Both Apple and Android devices allow you to place a link to a website on your device’s home screen.

Apple: Open a web browser and type in www.masoncountypress.com or www.oceanacountypress.com (or both!). At the center of the bottom of the screen is a little rectangle with an arrow that points up. Click on that. Then, scroll down to “Add to Home Screen.”

Android: Open a web browser and type in www.masoncountypress.com or www.oceanacountypress.com (or both!). At the top right are three dots. Click on those dots and then select “Add to homescreen.”

You now have the website on your device’s home screen.

Additionally, you can sign up for email alerts from MCP or OCP. On either website, go to the bottom right of the page, to the “subscribe to” prompt. Just type in your email address and then you will receive an email every time we post a story.
