Winter weather advisory begins at 8 p.m. Thursday

OCEANA COUNTY — The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the lakeshore counties Oceana, Mason, Muskegon, Ottawa, Allegan and Van Buren beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday evening, Feb. 2, until 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3.

Total snow accumulations of up to 4 inches are expected.

A wind chill advisory begins at 11 p.m. for wind chills reaching as low as -15 degrees through 9 a.m. Friday.

“Plan on slippery road conditions,” states NWS. “The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commutes. Slow down and use caution while traveling. Cold air will surge into the area tonight. Travel will be impacted due to the light snow and very cold temperatures. Very cold wind chills will be possible later Thursday night into Friday. The passage of the cold front will keep gusty winds overnight.”
