Accused drunk driver causes 2-truck crash

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — A 67-year-old Shelby man was arrested for operating while intoxicated after two pickup trucks crashed in front of a house on Woodrow Road Wednesday, Jan. 18, around 5:30 p.m.

The man, who was eastbound in a 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck, attempted to pass a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by a 39-year-old Hart man while he was making a left turn onto 96th Avenue, according to the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office report.

The Hart man received minor injuries, and the suspect was not injured. He “exhibited signs of being intoxicated and was subsequently arrested.” The crash caused “significant damage to both units,” the accident report states.
