Frosty’s Snow Ball Jan. 21 will raise money for Pentwater band instruments

PENTWATER — Efforts are underway to purchase new instruments for Pentwater band students, and Frosty’s Snow Ball is the newest addition to the campaign.

The event will take place at the FOE Bowling Club located at 4555 N Oceana Dr., Hart. A portion of each game bowled will be given to the Pentwater Band during the event, which is set for on Saturday, January 21, from 4-8 p.m. There will also be 50/50 raffles, prizes, a bake sale, food and drink specials and much more.

“It’s a great way to have a night out with the family and support the Pentwater bands,” said organizer Amanda Lewandowski. If you are not able to make it in person, Lewandowski’s local business — PotWater LLC — is donating 100 percent of all funds collected to the band in its online “tip jar” during the month of January. https://www.paypal.me/p0th20

“While talking with parents at the Pentwater Band Holiday Craft Fair, it came to light how much of a need there was for new band instruments,” said Lewandowski. “After contacting Jesse Rodriguez, the Pentwater band director, he confirmed that the ultimate goal is to get at least 10-15 of each: clarinet, flute, trumpet and trombone/baritone. So it’s going to be a bit of a lengthy process.

“Beginner instruments start at approximately $800. One option that is available to purchase instruments is the band instrument rental program through Meyer Music. It allows payments over a period of about three and a half to four years, and Meyer Music will maintain, repair or replace the instrument, if necessary, during that time. The payments start at $32 per month, with a discount if you make an annual payment of $320.”

The biggest fundraiser of the year for the Pentwater Band is the Holiday Craft Fair in December. The kids also have different sales throughout the school year.
