NWS predicts 4-8 of snow on the way.

OCEANA COUNTY — The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a winter weather advisory beginning Thursday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. until Saturday, Dec. 17, at 7 a.m.

The advisory affects Oceana, Mason, Lake, Newaygo, Muskegon, Ottawa and Allegan counties.

Lake effect snow with total accumulations of 4-8 inches is expected “with locally heavier amounts possible,” states NWS.

“Plan on slippery road conditions and reduced visibilities. Heavier snow bands will initially impact areas west of Highway 131 tonight into Friday, but will eventually shift farther inland toward the US 131 corridor later Friday and Friday night. Slow down and use caution while traveling.”
