Man’s cause of death determined to be suicide

CRYSTAL TOWNSHIP — The cause of death of a 42-year-old man found shot dead in the area of East Madison Road and North 156th Avenue Tuesday, Dec. 13, around 10 a.m. is suicide, according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast. 

A deer hunter found the man’s body, said Sheriff Mast.

Preliminary information from Central Dispatch indicated that a male hunter was found shot in the head.

The deceased man had been reported missing by his family Monday, Dec. 12. The man’s birthday was Tuesday.

“There was a strong concern with his family,” said Mast.
